When it was opened to the public in 1908, the Singer Building at 149 Broadway held the record, however briefly, as the tallest skyscraper in the world. Sixty years later, it had the honor of setting a more enduring record as the world's largest skyscraper ever to be peacefully demolished. Too bad because this was a beautiful building!
