Grandmother's wholesome, home-baked food from the Farmhouse. 1939. Speaking as the owner of Historical Pix, this is my all-time favorite print! It's not a particularly popular or historically important one. In art school, the professor kept asking us "...but how does it make you feel?". And every time I see this photo, it brings me back to my childhood. I can imagine the cool kitchen and the smell of homemade bread from the simple ingredients. I love the way the soft diffused light shines through the sheer curtains and the way it spills onto the plant. And as the timer rings, signaling the bread's completion, the irresistible scent fills the air, overwhelming my senses with joy and nostalgia.
